Local Students Receive New Shoes Through Shoes That Fit and Nordstrom Collaboration

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – On Wednesday, hundreds of children in south Charlotte benefited from a significant giveaway event, walking away with new footwear.

Shoes That Fit nonprofit and Nordstrom partner to donate new shoes to local students

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – On Wednesday, hundreds of children in south Charlotte benefited from a significant giveaway event, walking away with new footwear. The national nonprofit Shoes That Fit joined forces with Nordstrom to provide each student at Pinewood Elementary School with a brand new pair of sneakers, socks, and shoe charms.

According to organizers, the financial burden of purchasing new shoes affects families and has a direct impact on a child’s mental well-being, physical activity, and school attendance. Janet Lang from Shoes That Fit remarked on the noticeable difference in students as they exchanged their worn-out shoes for new ones, saying, “We are taking off their old shoes and we can see that a lot of them are torn, really worn out. And then just putting a brand new pair of shoes on them that they get fitted for directly. You just see the excitement go in their face.” This initiative marks the first instance the long-standing partnership has extended its donation efforts to Charlotte.
