CHARLOTTE, N.C. – With just two weeks remaining until Election Day, early voting in Mecklenburg County is experiencing a substantial increase compared to the midterm elections in 2022. In the initial five days of early voting, over 70,000 residents have already cast their ballots, marking a notable rise from the just over 42,000 recorded during the same period last year.
The most popular early voting location out of 25 sites is the former University City Library. Early voter James Watson remarked, “I think people are voting more early now because things are really going in the wrong direction and it makes a difference when you get out and vote.” Diana Grier, another early voter, urged everyone to participate, saying, “I don’t care who you are. I don’t care how old you are, please go and vote because it will make a difference.” The final day for early voting in both North and South Carolina is set for Saturday, October 31st.
