CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is set to roll out a new Fare Ambassador Program starting on Friday, October 30. This initiative is intended to simplify fare interactions, assist customers as fare-payment technologies change, and foster a transit environment that is secure and welcoming.
A group of 60 Fare Ambassadors will be stationed on Blue Line vehicles and platforms, identifiable by their blue shirts and yellow hats. Their responsibilities will include fare validation and customer service, providing assistance with fare payment, transfers, fare capping, and using the CATS-Pass app. The program is planned to gradually extend to buses and the Gold Line, with details to be announced later.
“Fare Ambassadors will play an important role in helping our customers navigate their fare experience while providing a welcoming, customer-focused presence across our system,” said Interim CATS CEO Brent Cagle regarding the program’s significance.
